Today, there was a shooting on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, CA. The incident is being described as a murder-suicide. At the time of this writing, the type of firearm used has not been made public, but I suspect we will find it was a handgun as it would be difficult to get a rifle that far onto a college campus without attracting massive attention. Before I go further, I want to express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of those lost today. I have been in your shoes, I know your pain. I wish you peace and healing.
With that said, this incident occurred in one of the least gun friendly cities in perhaps the least gun friendly state in the entire country. California has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country, some of the largest hurdles for gun owners to traverse in order to legally purchase guns, an ever shrinking list of pistols that are legal to sell in the state (the “Safe Gun List”), and Los Angeles county ranks near the top of the list for the lowest number of concealed weapons permits per capita of any county in the state.
On top of that, most school campuses are already gun free zones in this state, but there did exist an exemption for those with a valid concealed carry permit (CCW). However, just last year, the Democrat lawmakers passed a law eliminating that exception and now even CCW holders cannot (legally) carry on campus.
Despite all the laws that exist already, the very laws that were violated today, the anti-gun left is already using this incident to push for yet more gun laws, and will likely use this incident to try and justify the plethora of anti-gun laws that are already being voted on in the State Capital by a bunch of control freak liberals who know nothing about guns and even less about crime.
If only there was one more law, this could have been prevented. One more law, on top of the likely dozens that were violated, that one more law would have made that man with murder in his heart stop and reconsider his plans…
That one more law could have prevented that gun from somehow making it’s way into the hands of the man planning to kill another man, who would have changed his mind if it had only been for that one more law…
If only there had been one more law requiring that murderous piece of crap undergo one more background check before he could legally purchase that “safe handgun” from a state authorized, federally licensed firearms dealer, with the one more law to prevent the gun from appearing on campus and that one more law that would make murder more illegaller and the one more law that would make the murderous piece of crap reconsider his evil plans…

When will the left understand that you cannot legislate evil out of existence?
Laws cannot, will not ever prevent crime! Laws can only punish those who commit crime.
