Development Blog June – 2020 | Mobile Application Enters Closed Beta

Full30 Community, it has been an insanely productive month for us here in June – 2020. COVID still has a majority of our team working from home. For the foreseeable future, this will probably be the case. Productivity has actually increased inside of our team, and as a result we don’t see the need for pushing everyone back into an office setting at this time.

As many of you already know, our platform is open to creators of all sizes. In the past month, we have added, on average, two new content creators to the platform every single day. These creators vary in size, from just starting out, to individuals looking for a backup after the expected collapse of GunStreamer. If you wish to join our ever-growing list of content creators, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

While we’re on the topic of GunStreamer, we would like to congratulate them. They recently had a new investor step in to save their platform. Strong work, we appreciate everything that they’re doing for the gun community, even if we are competitors in the CDN space. We wish them the best of luck. If anyone at GunStreamer ever reads this, know that our door is always open for you guys.

Now, let’s dig into the meat of what we accomplished in June of 2020.

June - 2020 Update

Front-Facing User Performance Upgrades in June – 2020.

Currently, our front-facing bug count is sitting at around twenty total bugs. This number is down drastically from where it was at the start of the month. We have fixed an issue with the footer of our page that was causing some of the comments sections with longer threads of discussion to be cut off. Also, we are continuing to work with our search bar to make it more effective. We are aware of the bug in that system that is currently causing search terms to be case sensitive. This is a problem with older code in our system, we are working to rectify the issue as soon as possible.

On top of this, we have also fully implemented a bug reporting system to our webpage. Individual users can report bugs through the bug report feature by following this link. If you are reporting a bug, please be sure to include as much information about the bug as humanly possible. We have to recreate the bug you encountered on our own before we are able to target said bug and squash it.

In the very near future, we are hoping to finish some back-end upgrades to our technology. Once completed, we’ll be able to bring you a ton of new features and systems at a much faster rate. Currently, the system we have in place is not optimal, nor is it as up to date as it needs to be. This full-site upgrade will probably take us another four to six weeks to complete, but we cannot commit to that deadline just yet. More on that in the following section.

Back-End Rebuild Progress and Upgrades in June – 2020.

As many of you know, Full30 was founded and built back in 2015. If you are in the tech space, then you know how rapidly this world evolves and changes. Technology has quickly outpaced what we originally built back in 2015, and as a result, some things on our back-end are not as modular as we would like. Over the past month, we have spent approximately 300 man hours fully upgrading our technological infrastructure.

This is being done in a separate test environment. From a user and creator perspective, the work we are doing here will have absolutely zero impact on your day-to-day use of the platform… right now. Once complete however, you will see the wheels of the platform begin to spin at a much more rapid pace. We can’t sit here and promise you the world however. A lot of work needs to be completed on the back-end, and until we are able to fully launch the new system, you will primarily just be seeing bug fixes on the front-facing end of the web page. That said, there is one new exciting feature we’re able to talk about this month, and that is the long awaited launch of our mobile app for both IOS and Android operating systems.

Mobile Application Progress and Closed Beta Testing in July – 2020.

It’s been a long time coming. We apologize for the wait, but we promise it’ll all be worth it. We are now officially ready to launch closed beta testing on the Android platform. IOS will follow suit shortly after, we’re just still jumping through some extra-curricular Apple development hoops. If you’re interested in helping us search for and squash bugs while the platform is in beta, please follow this link to sign up. Another form will be listed for IOS Platforms as soon as we finish jumping through the right hoops.

Once we reach public release, we have a ton of exciting new features we hope to add into the app over the lifetime of the platform. These include a creator suite that will allow creators to access all of their tools while on the go. If you spot any bugs during the beta test, please report them to this link for us.

At launch, some features of the mobile app may be missing. We are still matching parity with the desktop site, and with the back-end performance upgrades, this will be an on-going task. As we get bug reports from testers, and find them ourselves, we’ll continue to patch the application and improve it. If you have any questions about installing the app, or getting it running on your device, please send an e-mail to [email protected], and he will personally assist you.

June – 2020 Wrap Up.

Again, we want to thank everyone for your on-going support of the Full30 platform. We know it’s been a rocky road these past five years. At times this company has admittedly dropped the ball for both users and creators. This will never happen again. We have a brand new staff, brand new management, and a mission-oriented mind-set that will get us to our end goal. We’re here to provide creators a space in which they can create firearms and outdoors related content without the judgement of individuals who wish to trample on the first amendment rights of freedom loving Americans.

We would also like to toss a special shout out to our current advertisers and supporters. If you see a company running pre-roll ads, or a company with banners on Full30, please show them some love from us. These are companies that are stepping outside of their comfort zone to directly support a non-conventional content delivery network. Without our supporters, and without our creators and users, there would be no Full30 today.

You guys are awesome. Stay safe, and shoot straight. Here’s a quick link to last month’s Dev Blog. We’ll see you next month.

P.S.

Big Shoutout to Aero Precision for being the first video on our platform to break one million views. Here’s the video, just in case you were wondering what kind of content hits a million views on Full30.
