Big Daddy Unlimited | Is The Subscription Worth It? [Review]

If you’re like me, and you spend a lot of money each month on firearms and firearm accessories, then Big Daddy Unlimited might be exactly what you need in your life. That said, if you’re a one off purchaser every now and then, it might not be for you.

We test drove Big Daddy Unlimited. Here’s what we came up with.

What is Big Daddy Unlimited?

Straight up, let’s answer this question first. If you’re unfamiliar with the platform, then you might be wondering why we’re talking about it. For those not in the loop, this is in fact a place to find deals on firearms and firearm accessories.

Anyone who’s purchasing guns or things related to guns knows a lot about the dealer mark-up. Dealer’s get firearms and firearm accessories at a low cost because they buy in bulk. They then mark these things up in their store and sell the items for profit. That’s just how companies make money.

What Big Daddy Unlimited does is gather up those same prices, and then charge a monthly subscription. With that monthly subscription you get access to every item and deal they currently have available, and they generally maintain a lower dealer mark-up on all of their items.

If you need more information, here’s an independent third party review from MrGunsNGear.

What is the Price of Big Daddy Unlimited Each Month?

You can currently sign up for 30 days of Big Daddy Unlimited’s subscription service for $.99. This is a test drive period that allows you to browse the deals and make a few purchases through the webpage. At the end of that first 30 days, the subscription becomes full price, which will run you about $9.99 per month to continue having access to all of their deals. You are able to cancel at any time.

Why Pay the Subscription?

Big Daddy Unlimited Subscribe

For the average person, this is the question you have to ask yourself. Subscription services run deep on the internet right now. Between Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, and even dating services like Tinder, there’s a ton of stuff you can wrack up monthly bills on. If you’re someone who is only making one or two firearms or firearms related purchases a year, Big Daddy Unlimited might not be what you’re looking for.

If however, you’re really in this game like some people, this might be what you need. Once subscribed to this service, you get access to all of their deals year round. On top of this, you can minimize the amount of time you are searching to save a dollar here and a dollar there. All of your deals are in one spot, and you’re either getting the cheapest available price, or something within a few dollars of that price 90% of the time.

Is it possible to find better prices off of Big Daddy Unlimited? Sure. Sometimes it’s fully possible to do just that. You just have to be willing to put in the hours to save those dollars on every single purchase. If you’re making purchases weekly however, this subscription is going to save you a ton of time, time that you can use on other projects.

How are the Prices and Deals at BDU?

Big Daddy Unlimited Deals

We spent a couple of hours on their webpage searching, and this is what we found out. The deals are pretty amazing and consistent here. The number of items we searched was somewhere around 50, including ammunition, firearms, and some accessories. While Big Daddy Unlimited wasn’t always the absolute cheapest price for everything at the time, they were consistently in the lowest three price points. That’s actually pretty hard to find anywhere else, and if someone does know something better please let us know.

On the far right side of the browser, you’ll see a section for deals. Some of the items listed here were actually far below the other cheapest prices we were able to find. While they weren’t always something we wanted to get, some of the price points may have actually ended up in our shopping cart still. We just couldn’t help ourselves.

We’ll update this post once we have a shipping / customer service experience to tell you guys about.

Our Thoughts on Store Navigation.

Big Daddy Unlimited Navigation

Big Daddy Unlimited is not going to win any awards on webpage design, and that’s perfectly fine. In the hours we’ve spent on the webpage, we’ve had no significant complaints about finding the items that we wanted to purchase. That said, this is an online place to purchase firearms and firearms accessories. It’s not a billion dollar tech company like Facebook, and personally we don’t need that out of a place to purchase these items. We just need it to work, and it does.

Their webpage is comparable to some of the other top brands out there in form and function, and it works just fine. Many of the complaints we found were outdated, or the issue had been resolved. Simply put, we didn’t find any major issues.

Starting and Ending Your Subscription.

Big Daddy Unlimited Unsubscribe

In order to gain access to all of the deals you have to cross the paywall. For your first 30 days, you can access Big Daddy Unlimited for $0.99. The process of starting your subscription is simple and easy, once you cross the paywall you can immediately access all of the deals, but it can take up to 24 hours for you to be allowed to make your first purchase. We received our confirmation in under two hours.

You are allowed to cancel your subscription at any time, and the process to do this was also not incredibly difficult. All you need to do is go to your account page, click on “my subscriptions” and from there you are able to edit your current subscription and cancel it. The only stopping point is that you need to type DELETE in order to cancel your subscription.

Really, there is no risk involved with checking the webpage out for 30 days. If you decide it’s not for you, you’re able to cancel with no drama.

Final Thoughts on Big Daddy Unlimited.

Big Daddy Unlimited is a webpage for a niche audience, and people who make a ton of purchases. There’s a lot of mixed reviews out there. We’ve found that a majority of those come from people who only make one or two purchases a year. If you’re someone like me however, who spends a lot of time looking for deals and making purchases, Big Daddy Unlimited is a huge time saver. If you’re not like me though, and you only make a few purchases every year, you can find some great alternative locations to find deals here.

That’s just our thoughts however. Let us know down in the comments what your experience with Big Daddy Unlimited was like. We want to hear about your experience.

  1. I signed up about 30mins ago and already cancelled. Was looking for a revolver in a .357 mag or .38 special and ALL were out of stock. Also looked at a few other guns and they were out of stock as well.

Price-wise…. they were NOT very competitive with my local shops…and they even had a poor selection of brands. Not impressed with this site at all…let alone having to pay a $10 a month membership after the $1 trial. They do the ole’ markup from MSRP trick and put a slash through it to make it look like you are saving a ton… No different than any other site.

    1. Yeah, unless you’re making purchases quite often, it might not be for you. We do a lot of purchases quite often here between our entire team, so it’s worth it for us overall just because it saves us time on bargain hunting.

  2. BDU Dissatisfied

The company’s priorities seem to be manly focused on getting items to their youtube personalities than their customers. Most recently I placed an order approximately 5 weeks ago and still haven’t received my items. When I called yesterday they told be that two items were on back-order and the Firearm that I purchased was never added to my order in their system. I also have 3 other orders that are weeks behind and I am sure that these are bumbled in their system. I used them a lot in 2020 but this year 2021 is off to a really bad start and I have dropped their membership.

    1. I’m far from a popular YouTuber, but I haven’t had any issues with them this year. I have noticed a lot of stuff not being in stock though. Hopefully that improves when all this crazyness starts to level out.

  3. 99 cents to take a peek at a large and impressive list of what they do not currently have in stock. Waste of time.

  4. I don’t think I can remember seeing so much moaning ang groaning by “grown men” in the comments.
I’m able to find enough ammo monthly and have bought four firearms and some accessories since !0/2020 to keep my subcription active.

Same thoughts here about wasting a buck to take a peak. No ammo in stock & what ever ammo they have isn’t a great deal anyway. As stated in article website kinda sucks to navigate around too. Oh well, hope this ammo shortage and price gouging comes to an end quickly….be well & shoot straight.

  6. If I’m building my first AR from scratch would you say the subscription would be worth it?
Could you feasibly compile a shopping list of parts, start the month trial, and save a bunch if you bought them all at once then cancel?

  7. I’ve was charged for an order that never shipped and it took a fair amount of my time to resolve and get a refund. I can’t recommend them. Bad inventory management and the ammo I ordered which is a proprietary caliber was available elsewhere at the time but now isn’t so I their bad business has left me without ammo when that didn’t need to be the case.
